A rule I love in painting is to never use stark white and black. Always use an off colour, and your eyes will appreciate it! The Gundam Colours that Mr. Color does are great examples of that! The off-whites and off-blacks are great for getting that really dark look, without the harshness and loss of visual detail that is a stark black!
